Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite)

History: Purchased in 2020 by Noreddine Azelmat from a meteorite dealer in Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Specimen displays a weathered fusion crust.

Petrography: (D. Sheikh, FSU) Specimen is a breccia primarily composed of angular grains of orthopyroxene (~1 mm, up to 2 mm) set in a finer-grained matrix of similar composition. Accessory phases include chromite and troilite.

Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene (Fs23.1±0.3Wo1.7±0.2, range Fs22.3-23.7Wo1.5-2.0, Fe/Mn = 26±4, n=26), Chromite (Cr/(Cr+Al) = 0.76±0.01, n=5).
